First Communion Ideas

The First Communion, is a ceremony held in the Latin Church tradition of the Catholic Church. It is the colloquial name for a person's first reception of the sacrament of the Holy Eucharist, and in Roman Catholic churches occurs typically at age seven to twelve depending on national custom. 

For the Latin American community, every event is cause of a party and celebration, so the first communion not far behind. After the ecclesiastical ceremony family and friends gather to share lunch and celebrate among food, drink and games that your child receive the sacrament of communion. In this space I want to share some ideas of decor, invitations and favors gifts for a first communion.

Invitations

This will depend on how big will be your party. Otherwise you can only call family and close friends and invite them by phone or in person. Here are some simple ideas for first communion invitations:

Decoration

The decoration depends on the colors that you choose, you can go for the basic colors: blue and/or green for boy and pink and/or purple for a girl. If you want to be a little more risky you can combine colors and use black, gray, white, silver, gold and others. Any idea you have is valid for this type of event. Watch some ideas that I bring you:

• Centerpieces: You can use crystals, natural flowers, artificial flowers, candles, balloons and candies.

• Cake table: There are lots of ideas to decorate your cake and cake table.

Favors Gifts

After the party is common to deliver some favors with the date and name of the child who did the first communion. You can gift rosaries, cross-shaped key-chains, chocolates, etc.

As an Event designer, I alway wonder  who made the rule that blue is the only colour we can associte boys with, like honestly do we see our men walking around everyday, all day dress in only blue, we all know the answer to that. So why do we, and I say we, because before futhering my career as an event designer I honestly thought that blue was for boys.

There are tons of masculine colours like yellow,greys,burgandy,  brown,forrest green and many many more. You can pick a primary theme colour and go crazy with complimentay accent shades for your designs.

If you’re planning a wedding in 2015, there’s plenty of new trends on the rise and a few old ones that will remain constant in the wedding world next year. Here are the hottest wedding trends for 2015.

Themes & Colors

Pantone’s Color of the Year for 2014 was Radiant Orchid, and plenty of weddings from this year reflected this brilliant hue’s popularity. Pantone has announced its picks for Spring 2015, and the palette is full of gorgeous muted tones and carefully selected bright tones. These colors will be present in all of the trendiest 2015 weddings, reminiscent of minimalistic nature, floral art and tropical landscapes. Stay within the cool color spectrum with shades like Scuba Blue, Lucite Green and Aquamarine, or choose a warmer scheme with Strawberry Ice, Tangerine and Custard. Your wedding colors should reflect your personalities, so if having complementary colors to add a striking contrast is more your style, you can combine warm with cool to create your own palette.

Weddings will see a shift in popular themes, shying away from last year’s rustic barn weddings and Great Gatsby vintage glam trends and moving towards more modern, romantic and luxe themes. Sophisticated and sleek modern themes involve white or ivory with a burst of color or metallics. Classic elegance is making a comeback, with ornate weddings featuring formal tablescapes and soft lighting. Geometric shapes will still be around next year, in invitations, place settings, backdrops and centerpieces. White and Gold

This color symbolizes power, refinement and elegance. But in some cultures it is associated with death and mourning. It could be utilized in the high end wedding celebrations.

Yellow

Considered to be cheerful and warn, you should still be careful with this color since it could lead to frustration and irritation. Moreover, it fatigues the eyes. So, it is important to use it a complementary color, but not as a main background.

Purple

This is a noble hue that symbolizes wealth, prosperity and power. It is chic and extravagant. It could be used in the special effects creating like in highlighting with the light of special areas.  

Green

It is calming, natural and rich. It allows stress relieving and creates the tranquil atmosphere. So, if you are looking for the relaxation and harmony, opt for the green.
